Coming Soon

First  |  Previous  |  Next  |  Latest

A new Fern Sea update?? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?

FINALLY! Dissolution has hit a great stride and is moving along at a good clip, the Kickstarter referenced in the previous post succeeded beyond our expectations, and life in general has thrown a bunch of crazy stuff at us. BUT, there is some Fern Sea news on the near horizon!

Fern Sea Chronicles #1 will be printed shortly, allowing us to offer an all-ages comic alongside our more mature titles. #1 will collect the stories Blind Fly's Bluff and Caching with Kiwi into a standard sized comic, with a new piece of art for the cover. Stay tuned, I'll be posting the cover reveal soon! In addition to the comic, we'll be creating some one-off coloring pages for kids to offer. Fun!

As for new FSC content, there are many stories that have yet to be shared. Now that we are moving to the NE (next week! so excited!) and I am focusing entirely on art/writing for the near future, I plan to revisit those stories and construct the next FSC issue using all of the lessons I've learned from the comic projects I've completed in the meantime: Dissolution Issues #1-4, Cobalt #1, etc. I love the vibrancy of the colors and the basic character designs are pretty good, but I definitely want to raise FSC to the next level for Issue #2.

Update

First  |  Previous  |  Next  |  Latest

With winter in full swing we took a step back and talked about what we wanted to get ready so we could start hitting the conventions this spring. With that addition of work ahead of us, we are going to put Fern Sea on hold for a bit so we she can work on getting the first chapter of Dissolution ready for comic printing. Not sure when we will get a chance to put out more Fern sea, but make sure you check out Indi's webcomic Dissolution, and also keep an eye out for our Geocaching card game "Go Cache", and new shorter "one shot" style comics.

Betrayal at South Town - Part One

First  |  Previous  |  Next  |  Latest

Betrayal at South Town! Our next arc features a few never-before-seen characters in Fern Sea. We're super glad to finally be able to introduce Princess Arrow and revisit Cog (one of my favorite characters to draw), aboard their beautiful ship "Monarch." Yeah, if anyone would like to buy one of those racing catamarans for us for next Christmas, we definitely wouldn't say no...

And thus ends Blind Fly's Bluff. We hope you enjoyed this arc! Next up is an introduction to one of Ember's good friends, Kiwi, as they test out some new navigating contraption that Cog's devised... and perhaps get into a little trouble on the side.

We may be changing the size of the uploaded images, as we've gotten some feedback that the size loaded is too big for a few screens. We'll probably try to meet in the middle between this high res version (50% of original size) and the lower res version (about 25% of original size) posted on our Facebook Page.  Feedback welcome (as always)!

Blind Fly's Bluff - Part 6

First  |  Previous  |  Next  |  Latest

Illustrator's Note: This was a little bit of a rushed color work as I was struggling to get something up amidst a trip away from home and a lot of family issues happening - I intend to go back and clean it up at some point, certainly before publishing ever happens.

Blind Fly's Bluff - Part 1

Illustrator's Note: I fell absolutely in love with this story arc, one of the first that W. put to paper. I was very concerned about doing it justice, as I was still very much testing my comic legs. At this point, I had researched the art of comic layout, although my speech bubbles still have some definite room for improvement. I ended up being very pleased overall with my progression with the look of the world and the characters over the eight pages of this arc. Enjoy Blind Fly's Bluff, and don't judge Ember too harshly - she's just a teenager.
